As someone who is making their living by writing for a variety of clients, you need to have a way of finding and maintaining freelance writing clients. There are times when you will lose a client for one reason or another, and in those times you need to have someone new who you can replace that client with. For this reason, you need to know how to gain new clients so that you can keep earning the income that you would like to be earning.
Recommendations
Ask your current clients to recommend you to their friends and acquaintances in order to spread your reach. If you have a client who always compliments you in regard to the work that you do, ask them politely if they will reach out to those around them who could use your services. Do not be pushy in doing this, simply ask once and see how your client responds.
Excellence
Always complete your work in the best way possible if you are looking to get new clients. You never know when a one-time job is going to lead to something more, so you must put in all of your effort in regard to the work that you do. Whenever you have a job to complete from someone new, put in extra effort that you need to in order to complete that job in a great way.
Long-term Relationships
It is far easier to keep the clients you have than find new clients. Focus on cultivating strong relationships over the long-term to maximize the earning potential of the clients you do have. By developing a relationship-first mentality, you’re likely to garner a positive reputation from the clients you already have.
